Dispatch
Creating a call from dispatch
The dispatcher call form, the three announcement modes and the supervisor required checkbox.
NEW CALL in the dispatch toolbar opens the call form. It has the same fields units get, plus three dispatcher only controls.
The fields
Call type, priority, location, postal, department, caller and dispatch details. Location is required.
Location is free text - a street, an intersection, or a landmark. Postal is a separate optional box next to it. PlateNet does not parse either.
Priority sets how many units the call requests. When AutoDispatch is enabled the form shows the hint "P1/P2: 2 units" and "P3/P4: no add'tl". See automatic assignment.
SUPERVISOR REQUIRED
Marks the call as requiring a supervisor. See automatic assignment.
On creation
This sets what happens when the call is created. With AutoDispatch enabled there are three options.
"Create, assign and transmit TTS dispatch" creates the call, assigns units and announces it over the radio.
"Create CAD call only" creates the call with no announcement.
"Create and open radio console" creates the call and opens it in the radio entry form with the fields already completed.
Without AutoDispatch enabled, "Create CAD call only" is the only option.
The department field
With AutoDispatch enabled the empty option shows Automatic. Automatic uses your community's routing rules. See call routing and requirements.
Without AutoDispatch the empty option shows No department.
Changing a call after creation
EDIT CALL covers type, priority, location and details. The routing editor covers department, announcement mode, requested subdivisions and the supervisor requirement. See call requirements.
Changing the announcement mode does not resend anything. TRANSMIT DISPATCH does that.
