Dispatch
Dispatch
The dispatcher workspace, the two tabs, what changes when you enter the dispatch view, and what happens with two dispatchers on at once.
Dispatch is a separate workspace from Patrol CAD, opened from the DISPATCH card on the Portal.
The layout shows ACTIVE CALLS on the left and UNIT ROSTER on the right, with CALL CONTROL in the middle.
Entering and leaving the dispatch view
Entering Dispatch detaches you from every call you were attached to and sets your status to ADMIN. If you were the primary unit, that call no longer has one. The calls stay open.
While you are in Dispatch, self-dispatch is unavailable to units. See self dispatch.
Returning to the Portal, opening Patrol CAD or signing out reverses both.
The two tabs
CAD CALLS is where you start.
RADIO + TTS appears when AutoDispatch is enabled for your community. See the radio and voice console.
Without AutoDispatch, the toolbar shows an amber AUTODISPATCH NOT ENABLED badge.
The toolbar
NEW CALL opens the call form. See creating calls.
With AutoDispatch enabled, RETRY FAILED TTS retries unsuccessful announcements.
AUTO-ASSIGN UNITS THIS SESSION shows YES and NO. See automatic assignment.
A badge on the right shows the radio service status as TTS CONNECTED, TTS OFFLINE or TTS OFF.
Two dispatchers signed in
Both get the full workspace and both can create calls, assign units and use the radio.
Only the first dispatcher on duty can change the automatic assignment setting for the session. Other dispatchers see the buttons disabled with "Only CTRL01 can change AutoDispatch for this session."
Call control
Selecting a call shows EDIT CALL, ASSIGN UNIT, OPEN RADIO CONSOLE, TRANSMIT DISPATCH when the radio service is available, and CLEAR CALL.
The routing editor below covers department, requested subdivision, supervisor requirement and announcement mode. See call requirements.
Call notes work as they do for units and are stamped with your callsign.
