Civilian
Reporting an emergency
Civilians submit calls into the CAD queue with a caller, a type, a location and a description, subject to a wait between calls.
The EMERGENCY CALL tab submits a call into the same queue dispatchers and units work from. It is handled the same as a call a dispatcher raised.
Create a character before submitting a call. See creating and editing characters.
Submitting a call
- Select the caller from your characters. The primary character is preselected.
- Choose the emergency type. Medical, Fire, LEO or Other.
- Enter the street or location. Required.
- Describe what is happening. Required.
- Press SUBMIT EMERGENCY CALL.
The status line confirms with "EMERGENCY CALL RECEIVED" and the case number.
What the type does
It sets which service the call is aimed at. Medical goes to EMS, Fire to fire, LEO to law enforcement, and Other to the community's default department.
It does not set a priority. A dispatcher sets that, and can also change the department. See creating a call from dispatch.
Your character's name and phone number are attached as the caller information.
The wait between calls
After you submit a call, SUBMIT EMERGENCY CALL is unavailable for a short period. A countdown shows the time remaining.
Submitting during the wait returns "Please wait before making another emergency call."
After submitting
The call appears in ACTIVE CALLS for every unit and dispatcher in the community. Depending on the community's configuration it may be assigned automatically, announced over the radio, or left for a dispatcher. See automatic assignment.
None of that is visible from the civilian view.
What units receive
The location and the description, along with the caller name and phone number from the selected character.
