Community administration
Community administration
The Community Panel holds departments, access codes and users, and is where a new community is set up.
The Community Panel is reached from the COMMUNITY PANEL card on the Portal and is available to owners and managers. The heading reads "Community Panel" with the community name below it.
The tabs
OVERVIEW holds the community display name.
DEPARTMENTS + CODES shows two panels. See departments and access codes.
USERS is the permission grid. See community users and permissions.
A Community dropdown at the top right switches which community you are editing, for accounts that manage more than one.
Setting up a new community
- Set the community display name on OVERVIEW.
- Create the departments. Access codes for patrol, supervisor and dispatcher each require one. See departments.
- Set a default department for calls that do not classify.
- Generate access codes. See access codes.
Members who join before departments exist have no department, which gives them the law enforcement report set and excludes them from automatically routed work until they are assigned one.
Owner and manager differences
Both reach the whole panel. The difference appears in the users grid.
Only the owner can grant management access to another member, and only the owner can edit or remove another manager. A manager attempting either returns "Only the community owner can grant management access."
The owner role cannot be reassigned from this panel. Deleting an account that owns a community suspends that community until PlateNet administration assigns a new owner.
Password resets, one time codes and account unlocking are handled by PlateNet administration. Members join by redeeming a code.
Report review
Which reports a member can review is set by their supervisor standing and department. See reviewing reports as a supervisor.
