Community administration

Access codes

Access codes are how people join your community and how they receive patrol, supervisor, dispatcher, management or civilian access.

Members join a community by redeeming an access code.

The panel sits under DEPARTMENTS on the DEPARTMENTS + CODES tab.

The five access levels

The panel summarises them under "What each access level grants".

Patrol grants unit CAD only.

Supervisor grants unit CAD with supervisor controls, which covers report review and editing or clearing other people's BOLOs.

Dispatcher grants the dispatch console only. A member who needs both views also needs a separate Patrol grant.

Management grants the Community Panel, dispatch and unit access.

Civilian grants the civilian portal only.

Generating one

Expand GENERATE ACCESS CODE, select the access level and department, then press GENERATE.

Patrol, Supervisor and Dispatcher each require a department. Without one the panel returns "Select a department for Patrol, Supervisor, or Dispatcher access."

Management and Civilian can be issued without a department.

The code is shown once

The new code appears in a banner with a COPY button. Copy it before leaving the page, because it is not displayed again.

If a code is lost before distribution, delete it and generate a replacement.

Reuse and expiry

A generated code works for everybody it is given to until it is disabled or deleted.

Disabling and deleting

DISABLE stops a code working and leaves it in the list with an amber DISABLED badge.

DELETE removes it after a confirmation.

Neither affects members who already redeemed the code, and neither removes anybody from the community. That is done in the users panel.

Access accumulates

Redeeming a second code adds to what a member already has rather than replacing it.

An existing patrol member who redeems a dispatcher code holds both views. A management code grants management, dispatch and unit access together.

Codes cannot remove access.

Department codes for existing members

Members can redeem a code from inside Patrol CAD, in the unit profile box, to add a department without leaving the CAD. See setting your callsign, department and subdivision.
