Reports
Applying for a warrant
The WARRANT report needs a subject selected from a person record and at least one charge before it will submit.
A warrant application is a report of type WARRANT, form code WAR-801. It is the only report type that will not submit while incomplete.
Filing one
- Open a new report and set REPORT TYPE to WARRANT.
- Use IMPORT PERSON RECORD to search for the subject and select them.
- Complete the Warrant Information section, including the charge and the description.
- Add at least one charge in the offences section.
- Select SIGN & SUBMIT.
The two checks at submission
Failing either saves the report as a draft instead of submitting it, and tells you which check stopped it.
Without a subject selected from a person record, you get "Search and select a warrant subject before submitting. The application was saved as a draft."
Without at least one charge, you get "Add at least one charge before submitting. The application was saved as a draft."
Your entries remain saved in the draft.
The same checks run when you resubmit a returned or rejected application.
After submission
A supervisor decides the outcome. See reviewing reports as a supervisor.
Approval activates the warrant. What happens then, how the warrant is served and how it is cancelled are covered in warrants.
When both are present, the charge recorded on the warrant comes from the offences section rather than the warrant charge field.
